Chief Information Security Officer

Tony Zhong is the Chief Information Security Officer at the Port of Los Angeles. In this role, he manages the Port’s cyber security program, Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC) and Cyber Resilience Center (CRC). Tony led the organization to achieve the International Standards Organization (ISO) 27001 Information Security Management System certification. Additionally, he collaborates with various private and public organizations on cyber initiatives. 

Throughout his career, he has been involved in protecting critical infrastructure, digital assets/services and is an avid security practitioner that has extensive knowledge/experience in cyber operations, governance, compliance and policies.

Tony currently chairs the CRC executive and technical committees, co-chairs the ChainPort Cyber Security workgroup with international ports since April 2022 and chaired the Cyber Security committee for the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) from 2019 to 2021. Tony is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

    Cyber Threats to Ports - Review of Recent Cases

    The catalogue of successful cyber attacks in port and terminal related infrastructure shows no signs of abating, with more and more sophisticated, coordinated attacks by criminal and state-sponsored organizations. This session will review recent cases, how they were dealt with and how ports and shipping are now coming closer together to deal with this existential threat.
