CEO

Sakura Kuma is the CEO of APM Terminals Japan, one of the very few female CEOs in the port community.

Prior to joining APM Terminals in Feb 2021, Sakura Kuma held several leadership positions within marketing and sales, new business development, and corporate management in NYK, as well as secondments to NYK Bulk & Projects Carrier Ltd, Yusen Terminal Inc., and Yokohama-Kawasaki International Port Corporation (YKIP).

She has developed her expertise in container shipping and terminal business both internationally and domestically. In addition, experiences over numerous international container terminal M&A projects, project cargo overseas marketing as well as global human resource management enriched her career.

Adding to her profile as Executive Director of Yokohama Kawasaki International Port Corporation (YKIP) from 2017-2020, Sakura Kuma fulfilled her “multiple perspectives to the industry” as user, investor, operator and authority.

Her passion toward environment led the LNG bunkering development at Port of Yokohama, her faith in diversity and inclusion represents who she is today.
