IAPH Climate and Energy Committee Chair

Peter W. Mollema is strategy advisor for the Port of Rotterdam Authority. He graduated in 1988 from the Delft University of Technology with a Master of Science in civil engineering. After military service, he started his career in Port Maintenance at the Municipality of Rotterdam. In 1994 he transferred to the Port of Rotterdam Authority, where he held various management positions in the field of port infrastructure, port security, and transport policies. In 2008 Peter was appointed Managing Director Environmental Management, where he was responsible for the port’s spatial planning, environmental management, and sustainable development. Since September 2015 Peter is formulating port strategies in the field of climate action, energy transition, and international cooperation, with a focus on decarbonization of marine transport. He is currently also chair of the Climate and Energy Committee of IAPH and a Board member of the Green Award Foundation.

    IAPH Technical Committee - Climate and Energy

    The Climate and Energy committee will be addressing the recent developments at IMO regarding the decarbonization of shipping and will be preparing the respective IAPH input to the 78th session of the IMO Marine Environment and Protection Committee. The committee will be further reflecting on ongoing work related to further externalities of shipping, such as underwater noise and marine litter. As always, the Committee will be reviewing the progress of the IAPH working groups on Environmental Ship Index and Clean Marine Fuels and will be coordinating IAPH contribution to all major ongoing initiatives by other parties on decarbonisation.
