Mmutle Lentle is an Information Technology executive with 23 years’ experience and has an established track record in defining, building, and optimizing best-in-class ICT organizations. He is, currently, the Chief Information Officer at Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA), a position he has held for the past 15 years. In his role as TNPA CIO, he is responsible for the strategic alignment of technology with business needs.

Prior to TNPA, he was a Business Strategy Consultant and ICT Entrepreneur and has extensive experience in the manufacturing, automotive, transportation and consulting industries. He cut his teeth as a Senior Consultant with Deloitte Consulting where he specialized in the field of SAP ERP technology implementations.

Mmutle’s notable achievements as CIO at TNPA includes:

• The implementation of the first ever Omni-channel e-Commerce application for Transnet Port Authority customers and has Identified and commissioned a Smart People’s Port project that seeks to create a digitally connected ecosystem

• The successful implementation of a fully integrated customer Port Management Systems (IPMS) across the entire port system for the eight South African commercial ports as first step towards a digital Smart People Ports Programme.

• Successfully designed and implemented Architecture model that combined an Omni-channel e-Commerce system, with data abstraction layer providing real time/right time self-service data services and 3rd Party applications programming interface (API) and IoT Layer creating a seamless single semantic layer for information access.

Mmutle has also served as the Technology Stream lead for the Port Management Association of East and Southern Africa (PMAESA) where he assisted member ports with designing Information Technology landscape.

Mmutle holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Management Accounting and Accounting; Global Executive Development Programme with Gordon Institute of Business Sciences; Advanced Ports Management Certificate with Global Ports Executive Forum of Singapore as well as various certifications in IT including SAP ERP.
