Senior Advisor Environmental Management Policy & Planning

Jarl Schoemaker has over 20 years of experience in consultancy, project management, and advisory in transport policy. He currently holds the position of senior advisor in the Environmental Management Policy & Planning department of the Port of Rotterdam authority focusing on international regulation, policy, and projects in energy transition, alternative fuels, and environmental protection in maritime and inland shipping.

Onshore power supply is one of his key focal areas. He is co-author of the Rotterdam OPS strategy and coordinator of the actions on innovation, standardization, and international collaboration within the Rotterdam OPS program. This includes the coordination of the working group on OPS in the World Port Climate Action Plan.

Before joining Port of Rotterdam Jarl acted as business development lead, project manager, and senior consultant in transport, infrastructure, and logistics policy at the research-based consultancy firm Panteia serving public and private sector clients. At the grant advisory firm PNO Consultants, he acted as manager of the transport and infrastructure team. He holds a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from Delft University of Technology.
