Dr Carlo Raucci has more than 15 years' experience in research in the shipping decarbonisation and climate change fields as well as advocacy for energy systems transition and low carbon transport.

Carlo holds a Ph.D. from University College London in 'The potential of hydrogen as a fuel for shipping'. His research uses an innovative methodology and was one of the first pieces of evidence to suggest the use of hydrogen or hydrogen-derived fuels to decarbonise the shipping industry.

He has authored several publications on the topic of transition to zero-emissions vessels and his work has influenced the IMO goal of a 50% reduction in GHG from shipping by 2050, and the target to have zero-emission vessels in use by 2030 to be on track on the energy transition.

He is the lead author of the most recent report the “First Mover in shipping’s decarbonisation; a framework for getting started” and is currently leading green corridors initiatives for the LR Maritime Decarbonisation Hub. Carlo also represents the Hub on the Global Maritime Forum’s ‘Getting to Zero Coalition’, and on the Maritime Industry Decarbonisation Council.
