Peder Winther
Global Head, Ocean Freight
Peder Winther, global head of ocean freight for Panalpina, studied foreign trade at Copenhagen Business School before starting his international shipping education at A.P. Møller Mærsk in 1984. Until 2006, he held various positions and later executive roles at A.P. Møller Mærsk in Denmark, Japan, The Benelux, and the UK. He also worked on the global management board of Maersk Logistics (now Damco) as regional manager in Europe. In 2006, Winther became CEO at Samskip Logistics, and he took on the role of chief commercial officer at Samskip Multimodal Container Logistics in 2009. He joined Kuehne + Nagel in 2011 as senior vice president with global responsibility for business solutions, and he was promoted to head of seafreight in Western Europe in 2013. In 2017, Winther became president and regional manager of Western Europe for Kuehne + Nagel, a position he held until joining Panalpina on Jan. 1, 2019 as global head of ocean freight and a member of the executive board. Winther participated at an Advanced Development Program at London Business School and an Advanced Management Program at INSEAD, Fontainebleu (France).
